The "study" SHOULD have been called "Giving Way, Way Too Much Aromatase Inhibitor to Men Who Don't Even Need It is Harmful."
ANOTHER “scientific study” which will be misused by everyone from the medical community, down to the “BroScience” guys on message boards, to trash the use of Aromatase Inhibitors (which hinder the conversion of Testosterone to Estrogen). An example, the one I use in my medical practice, is called Arimidex (generic name: Anastrozole).
In the first place, why would they give this drug to guys who don’t even need it? What does that tell us of value?
And then, they gave a whopping dose; on the order of four times too much (that you would give to guys who actually DO need them).
Of the thousands of men I have treated over the years, I can count on one hand the number I administered an aromatase inhibitor to who were not on Testosterone Replacement Therapy (TRT). And they are very special cases, indeed.
So, what this “study” REALLY tells us is one more bad thing that happens when you lower estrogen too far. Too low estrogen is ALWAYS bad for you. But for those patients who truly need to have their estrogen lowered, it can be as night and day. Because estrogen that is too high is bad for you, too; or even if there are just imbalances among the group of hormones which are collectively called “Estrogen”. Using available laboratory testing, and even Over-the-Counter (OTC) supplements, we can “bend” the hormone pathways to optimize health and happiness. The patients then shed excess water, energy and attitude go up, and erectile quality improves.
…but estrogen, like all hormones, must be evaluated properly first. And treatment must be individualized for each patient. This is why you need a physician well-practiced in the art of Interventional Endocrinology. There really is a difference!
